Box

The Box widget allows you to arrange various elements within it. Separate and adaptive, the Box widget acts as a building block for the layout.

Included in: dx.mobile.js, dx.web.js, dx.viz-web.js, dx.all.js
Module: ui/box
Export: default

You can create the widget using one of the following approaches.

  • jQuery

    HTML
    <div id="box">
        <div id="item1" data-options="dxItem: { ratio: 1, baseSize: 10 }">
            <p>Item 1</p>
        </div>
        <div id="item2" data-options="dxItem: { ratio: 3, baseSize: 40 }">
            <p>Item 2</p>
        </div>
        <div id="item3" data-options="dxItem: { ratio: 2, baseSize: 20 }">
            <p>Item 3</p>
        </div>
    </div>
    JavaScript
    $(function () {
        $("#box").dxBox({
            direction: 'row',
            height: '70%',
            width: '90%'
        });
    });
  • AngularJS

    HTML
    <div dx-box="{
        direction: 'row',
        height: '70%',
        width: '90%'
    }">
        <div id="item1" data-options="dxItem: { ratio: 1, baseSize: 10 }">
            <p>Item 1</p>
        </div>
        <div id="item2" data-options="dxItem: { ratio: 3, baseSize: 40 }">
            <p>Item 2</p>
        </div>
        <div id="item3" data-options="dxItem: { ratio: 2, baseSize: 20 }">
            <p>Item 3</p>
        </div>
    </div>
  • Knockout

    HTML
    <div data-bind="dxBox: {
        direction: 'row',
        height: '70%',
        width: '90%'
    }">
        <div id="item1" data-options="dxItem: { ratio: 1, baseSize: 10 }">
            <p>Item 1</p>
        </div>
        <div id="item2" data-options="dxItem: { ratio: 3, baseSize: 40 }">
            <p>Item 2</p>
        </div>
        <div id="item3" data-options="dxItem: { ratio: 2, baseSize: 20 }">
            <p>Item 3</p>
        </div>
    </div>
  • ASP.NET MVC Wrappers

    @(Html.DevExtreme().Box()
        .ID("box")
        .Direction(BoxDirection.Row)
        .Height("70%")
        .Width("90%")
        .Items(items => {
            items.Add().Ratio(1).BaseSize(10).Template(@<text>
                <p>Item 1</p>
            </text>);
            items.Add().Ratio(3).BaseSize(40).Template(@<text>
                <p>Item 2</p>
            </text>);
            items.Add().Ratio(2).BaseSize(20).Template(@<text>
                <p>Item 3</p>
            </text>);
        })
    )

Note that DevExtreme widgets require you to link the jQuery library to your application. If you use the Knockout or AngularJS approach, the Knockout or AngularJS library is also required. For detailed information on linking these libraries to your project, refer to the topics in the Installation section.
