jQuery PivotGridFieldChooser Methods

This section describes the methods that can be used to manipulate the PivotGridFieldChooser UI component.

See Also

applyChanges()

Applies changes made in the UI component to the PivotGrid. Takes effect only if applyChangesMode is "onDemand".

beginUpdate()

Postpones rendering that can negatively affect performance until the endUpdate() method is called.

The beginUpdate() and endUpdate() methods reduce the number of renders in cases where extra rendering can negatively affect performance.

See Also

cancelChanges()

Cancels changes made in the UI component without applying them to the PivotGrid. Takes effect only if applyChangesMode is "onDemand".

defaultOptions(rule)

Specifies the device-dependent default configuration properties for this component.

Parameters:
rule:

Object

The component's default device properties.

Object structure:
Name Type Description
device

Device

|

Function

Device parameters.
When you specify a function, get information about the current device from the argument. Return true if the properties should be applied to the device.

options

Object

Options to be applied.

defaultOptions is a static method that the UI component class supports. The following code demonstrates how to specify default properties for all instances of the PivotGridFieldChooser UI component in an application executed on the desktop.

jQuery
JavaScript
DevExpress.ui.dxPivotGridFieldChooser.defaultOptions({
    device: { deviceType: "desktop" },
    options: {
        // Here go the PivotGridFieldChooser properties
    }
});
Angular
TypeScript
import PivotGridFieldChooser, { Properties } from "devextreme/ui/pivot_grid_field_chooser";
// ...
export class AppComponent {
    constructor () {
        PivotGridFieldChooser.defaultOptions<Properties>({
            device: { deviceType: "desktop" },
            options: {
                // Here go the PivotGridFieldChooser properties
            }
        });
    }
}
Vue
<template>
    <div>
        <DxPivotGridFieldChooser id="pivotGridFieldChooser1" />
        <DxPivotGridFieldChooser id="pivotGridFieldChooser2" />
    </div>
</template>
<script>
import DxPivotGridFieldChooser from "devextreme-vue/pivot-grid-field-chooser";
import PivotGridFieldChooser from "devextreme/ui/pivot_grid_field_chooser";

PivotGridFieldChooser.defaultOptions({
    device: { deviceType: "desktop" },
    options: {
        // Here go the PivotGridFieldChooser properties
    }
});

export default {
    components: {
        DxPivotGridFieldChooser
    }
}
</script>
React
import dxPivotGridFieldChooser from "devextreme/ui/pivot_grid_field_chooser";
import PivotGridFieldChooser from "devextreme-react/pivot-grid-field-chooser";

dxPivotGridFieldChooser.defaultOptions({
    device: { deviceType: "desktop" },
    options: {
        // Here go the PivotGridFieldChooser properties
    }
});

export default function App() {
    return (
        <div>
            <PivotGridFieldChooser id="pivotGridFieldChooser1" />
            <PivotGridFieldChooser id="pivotGridFieldChooser2" />
        </div>
    )
}

You can also set rules for multiple device types:

jQuery
JavaScript
const devicesConfig = [
    { deviceType: 'desktop' },
    { deviceType: 'tablet' },
    { deviceType: 'phone' },
];

devicesConfig.forEach(deviceConfig => {
    DevExpress.ui.dxPivotGridFieldChooser.defaultOptions({
        device: deviceConfig,
        options: {
            // Here go the PivotGridFieldChooser properties
        }
    });
});
Angular
TypeScript
import PivotGridFieldChooser, { Properties } from "devextreme/ui/pivot_grid_field_chooser";
// ...
export class AppComponent {
    constructor () {
        const devicesConfig = [
            { deviceType: 'desktop' },
            { deviceType: 'tablet' },
            { deviceType: 'phone' },
        ];

        devicesConfig.forEach(deviceConfig => {
            PivotGridFieldChooser.defaultOptions<Properties>({
                device: deviceConfig,
                options: {
                    // Here go the PivotGridFieldChooser properties
                }
            });
        });
    }
}
Vue
<template>
    <div>
        <DxPivotGridFieldChooser />
    </div>
</template>
<script>
import DxPivotGridFieldChooser from "devextreme-vue/pivot-grid-field-chooser";
import PivotGridFieldChooser from "devextreme/ui/pivot_grid_field_chooser";

const devicesConfig = [
    { deviceType: 'desktop' },
    { deviceType: 'tablet' },
    { deviceType: 'phone' },
];

devicesConfig.forEach(deviceConfig => {
    PivotGridFieldChooser.defaultOptions({
        device: deviceConfig,
        options: {
            // Here go the PivotGridFieldChooser properties
        }
    });
});

export default {
    components: {
        DxPivotGridFieldChooser
    }
}
</script>
React
import dxPivotGridFieldChooser from "devextreme/ui/pivot_grid_field_chooser";
import PivotGridFieldChooser from "devextreme-react/pivot-grid-field-chooser";

const devicesConfig = [
    { deviceType: 'desktop' },
    { deviceType: 'tablet' },
    { deviceType: 'phone' },
];

devicesConfig.forEach(deviceConfig => {
    dxPivotGridFieldChooser.defaultOptions({
        device: deviceConfig,
        options: {
            // Here go the PivotGridFieldChooser properties
        }
    });
});

export default function App() {
    return (
        <div>
            <PivotGridFieldChooser />
        </div>
    )
}

dispose()

jQuery

After calling this method, remove the DOM element associated with the UI component:

JavaScript
$("#myPivotGridFieldChooser").dxPivotGridFieldChooser("dispose");
$("#myPivotGridFieldChooser").remove();
Angular

Use conditional rendering instead of this method:

app.component.html
<dx-pivot-grid-field-chooser ...
    *ngIf="condition">
</dx-pivot-grid-field-chooser>
Vue

Use conditional rendering instead of this method:

App.vue
<template>
    <DxPivotGridFieldChooser ...
        v-if="condition">
    </DxPivotGridFieldChooser>
</template>

<script>
import DxPivotGridFieldChooser from 'devextreme-vue/pivot-grid-field-chooser';

export default {
    components: {
        DxPivotGridFieldChooser
    }
}
</script>
React

Use conditional rendering instead of this method:

App.js
import React from 'react';

import PivotGridFieldChooser from 'devextreme-react/pivot-grid-field-chooser';

function DxPivotGridFieldChooser(props) {
    if (!props.shouldRender) {
        return null;
    }

    return (
        <PivotGridFieldChooser ... >
        </PivotGridFieldChooser>
    );
}

class App extends React.Component {
    render() {
        return (
            <DxPivotGridFieldChooser shouldRender="condition" />
        );
    }
}
export default App;

...
let element = document.getElementById("myPivotGridFieldChooser");
