Accessibility Standards Compliance

The PivotGrid component meets a variety of Section 508 and WCAG 2.x compliance standards. Known exceptions:

11.5.2.12 Execution of available actions 2.1.1 Keyboard (Level A)
  • Users cannot move fields between areas or reorder fields within an area using the keyboard (in the field chooser and the field panel).
  • Users cannot navigate between data cells using arrow keys.
- 2.4.11 Focus Not Obscured (Minimum) (Level AA 2.2 only) The field chooser and HeaderFilter in the PivotGrid do not meet this criterion.
- 2.5.7 Dragging Movements (Level AA 2.2 only) Field chooser and field panel (when fieldPanel.allowFieldDragging is enabled).
- 2.5.8 Target Size (Minimum) (Level AA 2.2 only)
  • Expand/collapse icons in header cells.
  • Sort and filter icons in area fields.
11.5.2.15 Change notification 4.1.3 Status Messages (Level AA 2.1 and 2.2) The PivotGrid does not provide accessibility information about status changes.

The component also complies with the European Accessibility Act (EAA) and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) directives.

Keyboard Navigation

You can use the following keys to interact with the DevExtreme PivotGrid component:

Key Action
Shift + F10 Opens the context menu.
Tab / Shift + Tab Moves focus to the next or previous area (column and row headers, field areas, and the PivotGrid toolbar).
Arrow Keys Moves focus between row header cells, column header cells, and fields within an area.
Scrolls the data area when focused.
Enter / Space Expands or collapses the focused header cell.
Opens the integrated field chooser when the Field Chooser button is focused.
Sorts fields and toggles their sort order.
Alt + Down Arrow
⌥ + Down Arrow (Mac)		 Opens the header filter for the focused field.
Shift + Mouse Wheel Scrolls content left/right if horizontal scrolling is active.
Page Up / Page Down Scrolls content one page up/down.
Home / End Scrolls content to the top/bottom.
Esc Closes the integrated field chooser.

Screen Reader Support

The PivotGrid component supports screen readers and complies with WAI-ARIA standards. Known exceptions are listed in the Accessibility Standards Compliance topic.
