JavaScript/jQuery Drawer Methods

This section describes the methods that control the Drawer UI component.

See Also

beginUpdate()

Prevents the UI component from refreshing until the endUpdate() method is called.

The beginUpdate() and endUpdate() methods prevent the UI component from excessive updates when you are changing multiple UI component settings at once. After the beginUpdate() method is called, the UI component does not update its UI until the endUpdate() method is called.

defaultOptions is a static method that the UI component class supports. The following code demonstrates how to specify default properties for all instances of the Drawer UI component in an application executed on the desktop.

jQuery
JavaScript
DevExpress.ui.dxDrawer.defaultOptions({
    device: { deviceType: "desktop" },
    options: {
        // Here go the Drawer options
    }
});
Angular
TypeScript
import Drawer from "devextreme/ui/drawer";
// ...
export class AppComponent {
    constructor () {
        Drawer.defaultOptions({
            device: { deviceType: "desktop" },
            options: {
                // Here go the Drawer options
            }
        });
    }
}
Vue
<template>
    <div>
        <DxDrawer id="drawer1" />
        <DxDrawer id="drawer2" />
    </div>
</template>
<script>
import DxDrawer from "devextreme-vue/drawer";
import Drawer from "devextreme/ui/drawer";

Drawer.defaultOptions({
    device: { deviceType: "desktop" },
    options: {
        // Here go the Drawer options
    }
});

export default {
    components: {
        DxDrawer
    }
}
</script>
React
import React from "react";
import dxDrawer from "devextreme/ui/drawer";
import Drawer from "devextreme-react/drawer";

class App extends React.Component {
    render () {
        dxDrawer.defaultOptions({
            device: { deviceType: "desktop" },
            options: {
                // Here go the Drawer options
            }
        })
        return (
            <div>
                <Drawer id="drawer1" />
                <Drawer id="drawer2" />
            </div>
        )
    }
}

export default App;

dispose()

Disposes of all the resources allocated to the Drawer instance.

After calling this method, remove the DOM element associated with the UI component:

JavaScript
$("#myDrawer").dxDrawer("dispose");
$("#myDrawer").remove();

Use this method only if the UI component was created with jQuery or pure JavaScript. In Angular, Vue, and React, use conditional rendering:

Angular
app.component.html
<dx-drawer ...
    *ngIf="condition">
</dx-drawer>
Vue
App.vue
<template>
    <DxDrawer ...
        v-if="condition">
    </DxDrawer>
</template>

<script>
import DxDrawer from 'devextreme-vue/drawer';

export default {
    components: {
        DxDrawer
    }
}
</script>
React
App.js
import React from 'react';

import Drawer from 'devextreme-react/drawer';

function DxDrawer(props) {
    if (!props.shouldRender) {
        return null;
    }

    return (
        <Drawer ... >
        </Drawer>
    );
}

class App extends React.Component {
    render() {
        return (
            <DxDrawer shouldRender="condition" />
        );
    }
}
export default App;
